Important Info About Creating 100% Unique Floaty Pens

There are a lot of variables that affect the pricing and development of Floaty products, this is an overview: The minimum order for a custom floaty is 500 pieces. There are price breaks at 1000, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000, 17,000 pieces. There are small production variances up to +/- 10%. This affects the total number of pens shipped, ie., an order of 500 floaties could ship with 540 or 495. The most popular custom items are the pens. The Classic Floaty is the “Original” floaty pen and the collectors' favorite. The Futura Floaty Pens are "Modern," the artwork is slightly larger in the pen, due to magnification from the barrel shape. The Futura Pens cost a bit more than the Classic. The choice of pen is typically made by four criteria: 1) which you like best; 2) cost; 3) what type of design we're creating; and 4) appearance of final art once inside the pen's barrel. We'll go over all this in detail once we're underway. Images of all the available pen styles can seen on  the Custom Floaty Products page. There are several other products to choose from including: Toothbrushes, Bottle Openers, Key FOBs, Pen/KeyRing Combos, etc. Many of these can be seen on the Custom Floaty Products page. A wonderful thing is that you can assort the products you make & the total is cumulative! For example, order just 1,000 Classic pens, 500 Toothbrushes, 1,000 Futura pens & you'd get pricing for a 2,500 piece order. (Minimums of 250 pieces per item; & artwork on all items must be the same.)

How Long Does it Take?

It does take some time. To be on the safe side, we ask for  at least 3 months time to produce your sample/prototype and finished product. Some of this time is the back and forthing to Europe. Some is the top secret and difficult process of getting all that art made and into the little barrels, filled with the special liquid and sealed. The time clock starts ticking after we have final, approved flat artwork to the factory in Europe.

What about artwork?

If you want to design the artwork yourselves, we will provide a template, guidance and creative feedback. In this case, there is no charge for the artwork. You can download a template and other design information on the Downloads page. We always recommend you see a sample of your flat artwork in the pen before going into production. This does add a couple weeks of time, however (it's part of the 3 month time frame mentioned above). If one of our talented artistes creates the artwork for you it does cost. How much depends upon how much original artwork we create, how complicated the design is, how many revisions, etc., etc. You'll know the cost early on in the process.
